Ecosystem assets
Ecosystem assets are classified using the IUCN Global Ecosystem Typology. These are contiguous spaces of a specific ecosystem type characterised by a distinct set of biotic and abiotic components and their interactions.

Core realms
Includes all dry land, its vegetation cover, proximate atmosphere and substrate (soils, rocks) to the rooting depth of plants, and associated animals and microbes.
Includes all permanent and temporary freshwater bodies as well as saline water bodies that are not directly connected to the oceans.
Includes the earth’s crust and subsurface voids characterised by an absence or very low intensity of sunlight.
