In partnership with Citigroup, Earth Blox has been awarded a grant under the UK Space Agency's Unlocking Space for Business programme. This £2.5 million initiative from UKSA, announced yesterday, is designed to harness satellite data and cutting-edge technologies like AI, machine learning and geospatial data to deliver practical benefits for businesses and citizens across the UK.
Our project with Citigroup will use the Earth Blox platform to deliver a market-leading geospatial and satellite data tool, enabling corporations to systematically assess their nature-related impacts and dependencies at a facility level across various sectors and global geographies. By combining satellite data with advanced analytics, the tool gives businesses the insights they need to make informed decisions that align with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) objectives.
Earth Blox was also awarded funding to work with WieldMore Investment Management to develop CERES, a Comprehensive Environmental Risk Evaluation System that will integrate satellite data with financial models to assess the impact of climate and nature risks on manufacturing, energy, and agriculture sectors.
Mike Mason, Chief Operating Officer at Earth Blox, said:
"We're delighted to partner with Citigroup and WieldMore. Utilising the power of satellite data, we will bring together our advanced geospatial analytics platform with their financial expertise to deliver business solutions that will drive sustainable business growth and manage environmental risk.
Sustainability is both a commercial and an environmental challenge. We need to recognise that the two are inextricably linked. The challenge is clear: identify and mitigate environmental risk while understanding and doubling down on the great work that is already underway. Doing this in line with regulatory requirements and at scale allows our partners to develop sustainable business strategies for their businesses and for the planet."
